| The Thai
Student Association in Germany (TSVD) under the
Patronage of H.M. the King was established in B.E. 2500
(1957). The objectives of the Association include fostering friendship between Thai students and encouraging their civic responsibilities towards their fellow citizens, as well as upholding the cordial understanding between different peoples, especially between Thais and Germans. At the threshold of a new millennium, the Association is aiming to be a central forum which will strenghten the relationship of its members, students and non-students likewise. Emphasis is placed on boosting the morale of its members regarding their social, environmental, and national responsibilities. Furthermore, the Association will function as the main source for data pertaining to education for Thai students in Germany, thus being on par with the modern world of information technology. To fulfil these goals, the Association organizes numerous activites, such as giving help and advice to its members and to other interested Thais who intend to pursue their education in Germany, or for those who are already studying in Germany. Concretely, this means the creation of a data bank of information on education in Germany, as well as propagating this information through the Association's homepage and its quarterly magazine, "Puan-Thai". The Association strives to promote good relationship and understanding not only amongst Thai students in Germany (and other countries as well), but also amongst alumni who have already returned to Thailand. It organises events such as "Sanchorn-Sampan" to enhance regional ties, or sport fests between civilian students and cadets, as well as seminars on various fields, which are great opportunities for the exchange of ideas amongst Thai students. In the cultural sphere, the Association promotes Thai art and culture by organising events such as the annual celebration of H.M. the King's birthday or other Thai cultural happenings, in which artistically talented Thai students or other Thai groups in Germany perform in various fields. Last but not least, the Thai Student Association in Germany is engaged in promoting intellectual diversity amongst its members by giving them a forum, the "Puan-Thai" magazine, to let them express their ideas, thoughts, or even visions, through the written word. |
